Our Founder

Having spent many years in the glazing business from the mid-seventies to late eighties, I recognised the huge potential in the folding sliding door industry and how, at the time, there was no other company supplying to the UK market.

 

So in 1989 we launched our first set of folding sliding doors and despite the UK economic downturn at the time and businesses having great financial strains as a result, we persevered and gradually became recognised for the new concept. Architects began to see the capabilities, the aesthetic appeal and the benefits of added space and light that our folding sliding doors could bring to any architectural project. 

Initially, however, the window industry did drag its feet, but we continued to pursue what we knew to be a revolutionary development and embarked on creating a portfolio of products to meet a more diverse range of situations which could accommodate the burgeoning trend towards sliding folding doors.

As a result we have spent the past years setting trends and reacting to our customer’s requirements. Plus we have not only stretched our reach nationally but also to international markets by sending our folding sliding doors to as far afield as New Zealand, the United States and the Caribbean as well as opening a division in Singapore - Sunfold International - to cope with international demand.

We strive to continually improve and optimise our capabilities through further innovation so that our products remain the market leading folding sliding doors in the UK. We now have a thriving business not only in sliding folding doors, windows and conservatories, but through also adding further to our portfolio with the advent of full interior doors sets, sliding doors, stacking door systems, exterior front doors and roofing solutions. 

Now over 21 years on, the Sunfold Systems brand is synonymous within the industry for its reputation for quality craftsmanship and excellent customer service and it is our customer satisfaction and recommendations which will remain the key to our continued success. And it is this success which has spurred us on to bring new businesses and ideas under the Sunfold Group umbrella, with our latest venture Heatstream Hot Water Solutions.
