folding doors
sfk50 specification and details
SFK50 folding sliding doors create an open, flexible and modern space for both living and working environments. An ideal solution for dividing garden rooms and conservatories from the main house. Also ideally suited for commercial situations including pavement cafés, restaurants, balconies and car showrooms.
The slimmest sightlines in Europe (only 100mm!) allow an increase in light, glass and a reduction in frame.
Dimensions
Panels up to 3000mm high can be hinged together in long 'trains' to open up 90% of an elevation. The maximum panel width is 1100mm (for heights up to 2500mm). Panel heights over 2500mm will require a horizontal transom in each panel for stability.
Security
Intermediate panels joints are held securely by internal shoot bolts top and bottom. These are operated via a flat, colour matched, sprung handle. End panels and pass doors are fitted with a 3-point locking mechanism that meets insurance companies' requirements.
Weather seals
Unique 'finger safe' severe weather rated (to DIN18055 groups B & C) weather seals ensure draft free year round comfortable living. The seals are specifically designed to be soft & 'finger safe' should little hands get trapped!
Appearance
Fully adjustable aluminium frames can be coloured to suit your tastes. Standard finishes include silver anodised (EV1), polyester powder coated White(RAL 9016)and Anthracite Grey (RAL 7016).

Glazing
Sealed glazed units up to 22mm can be accommodated in the SFK50. Our standard 22mm unit comprises two panes of 4mm clear toughened glass with a 14mm cavity. The inner pane is equipped with a thermally efficient Low E coating. Units are manufactured to BS6206a and BS5713. Many solar control and tinted glasses are also available.
Stacking / Folding
Panels can be stacked inside or outside of the room, to the left, right or split to stack on both sides. Where odd numbers of panels are used, the last panel in the 'train' is furnished as a secure pass door with lever handles both sides for daily use.
Suspension
Panels can be top hung (suspended) or bottom rolling (floor supported). The bottom track can be recessed into the floor allowing an uninterrupted flush finish (and meets requirements of Document M), which is ideal when the doors are being used as a room divider.
Corner Posts
Static & sliding corner posts are available in thermal break aluminium to complement the system.
Ancilleries
Transom rails and solid (non-glazed) panels can be incorporated into your door design.
Ventilation
Ventilation can be offered in 3 ways;
- Through frame vents, where a trickle vent is placed within an "add on" section along the head track of the doors - see http://www.rwsimon.co.uk/ttfslimline.htm for further information.
- In-glazed vents, which are situated above the glass at the head of the panel - see http://www.rwsimon.co.uk/airstrip_300.htm for further information.
- Tilt turn panels are also available in inward opening 'trains' of panels. These do affect the appearance of the door set as there is a heavier sightline around the tilt turn panel.
Windows
We can offer tilt turn or fixed windows to complement our system.
Opening in tilt and turn windows offer multi-functional use through one single operating handle. When the handle is moved to the "tilt" position the vent opens in at the top allowing a source of ventilation. When the handle is moved to the "turn" position the window is hinged on either left or right and opens to the inside for an unobstructed view, complete ventilation & to make cleaning easy.
Tilt turn windows also comply with the Scottish Building regulations that state, "Any window or part of a window more than 4m above the adjacent ground should be constructed so that its internal and external glazed surfaces can be cleaned safely from inside the building".
